In today’s world, it’s common to see restaurant photos that have been professionally styled, carefully lit, and heavily edited before they appear online.
At Thong Thai Bistro, we’ve taken a different approach.
Since opening, we have never organised a professional food photoshoot. The photos on our website, Google Business Profile, and social media are largely taken during normal service. Many are captured by our guests, while others are simple photographs of the dishes exactly as they are prepared and served.
We believe that honesty builds trust. When you browse our menu or website, we want you to see the real food that will arrive at your table—not a version created just for a camera.
That philosophy reflects how we cook. Chef June prepares every dish fresh to order using family recipes from Southern Thailand. Fresh seafood, quality ingredients, and authentic flavours matter more to us than creating a perfect studio image.
Our guests often tell us that the dishes look just like the photos they saw before visiting. For us, that is one of the best compliments we can receive.
Beautiful food does not need to be staged. When quality ingredients and traditional recipes come together, the food speaks for itself.
We invite you to visit Thong Thai Bistro and experience authentic Southern Thai cuisine exactly as you see it—real, fresh, and prepared with care. Or you can order online for take away or delivery.

Mango Sticky Rice Birthday Cake Alternative | A Unique Celebration Dessert in Singapore
When people think of birthdays, they usually think of cream cakes, butter cakes, or cheesecakes. But what if there was a better way to celebrate?
At Thong Thai Bistro, many families have discovered that Mango Sticky Rice makes a fantastic birthday centrepiece. Instead of ending a meal with a heavy cake covered in cream and icing, guests can enjoy fresh mangoes, fragrant sticky rice, and creamy coconut milk.
The combination is lighter, fresher, and perfect after a satisfying meal. It is also something different that guests remember long after the celebration ends.
Another advantage is practicality. Many families already plan to order dessert, so choosing Mango Sticky Rice as the birthday “cake” means there is no need to purchase a separate cake as well. Everyone gets to enjoy a traditional Thai dessert while celebrating together.
Sometimes the most memorable birthday cakes are not cakes at all. Sometimes they are Mango Sticky Rice.
More Than a Restaurant: The Family Behind Thong Thai Bistro
When guests visit Thong Thai Bistro, they often meet Chef June in the kitchen and Indi in the dining room. What many do not realise is that the restaurant is powered by an entire family.
As parents of three children, Indi and June have built more than a restaurant — they have built a family business. Over the years, their children have learned every aspect of restaurant operations and are always ready to step in when help is needed.
From serving guests and taking orders to washing dishes and assisting in the kitchen, every family member understands that no task is too small when it comes to looking after guests.
The children have attended courses, gained practical experience, and learned the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and hospitality. They are the restaurant’s backup team during busy periods and staff shortages, helping ensure that service standards remain high.
At Thong Thai Bistro, hospitality is not just a business philosophy. It is a family value. Every meal served reflects the combined effort of a family working together to share authentic Southern Thai food and genuine hospitality with every guest.
That is what makes Thong Thai Bistro more than just a restaurant. It is a family story that continues with every guest who walks through our doors.
We recently had the pleasure of serving a guest who took some fantastic photos of their meal at Thong Thai Bistro. The Squid, Glass Noodle Seafood, and Thai Fish Cakes all made it into the spotlight.
But there was one dish missing from the photo collection — the lobster! 🦞
Prepared with garlic and chilli, this dish is one of Chef June’s favourite ways to showcase fresh seafood. Rather than covering the lobster with heavy sauces, the combination of fragrant garlic and chilli enhances its natural sweetness while allowing the quality of the seafood to remain the star of the plate.
At Thong Thai Bistro, we believe great seafood should speak for itself. That’s why our dishes are cooked fresh to order and prepared with ingredients that complement rather than overpower.
The result is a lobster dish that is aromatic, flavourful, and incredibly satisfying.
Perhaps next time we’ll be lucky enough to get a photo before it disappears from the plate! 😊

What Makes Thong Thai Bistro Different from Other Thai Restaurants?
Singapore has no shortage of Thai restaurants, so guests often ask what makes Thong Thai Bistro different.
The answer begins with Chef June.
Unlike many chefs, Chef June never attended culinary school or worked in professional kitchens before opening the restaurant. Everything she knows about cooking was learned from her parents, grandmother, and family in Southern Thailand. The recipes served today are based on the flavours she grew up with, not recipes from textbooks or training manuals.
Authenticity is only one part of the story. We are equally committed to quality ingredients. Fresh seafood, carefully selected vegetables, and authentic Thai ingredients are essential to our cooking. When we cannot find the quality we need in Singapore, we import ingredients directly from Thailand.
Every dish is cooked fresh to order. We do not believe in shortcuts because great food takes time and attention to detail.
The other difference is hospitality. While Chef June is focused on the kitchen, Indi focuses on the guests. Having served Thai food since 2012, he enjoys helping diners discover new dishes and guiding them through the menu based on their preferences.
More Than Just a Meal: Creating a Comfortable Place to Gather
At Thong Thai Bistro, we believe dining is about more than simply eating. It is about slowing down, sharing good food, enjoying conversation, and creating memories with the people around you.
Whether guests join us for brunch, lunch, dinner, family celebrations, or casual catch-ups with friends, our goal is to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.
We may not be the biggest restaurant in Singapore, but we have always focused on creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Some guests prefer our cosy indoor dining area, while others enjoy sitting outside and soaking in the character of the Jalan Besar neighbourhood.
As a family-run restaurant, we believe hospitality should feel genuine rather than formal. Chef June focuses on preparing authentic Southern Thai food using fresh ingredients, while Indi focuses on making guests feel at home from the moment they walk through the door.
For us, great dining is not just about what is on the plate. It is about the entire experience — good food, good company, and a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to stay a little longer.
That simple philosophy continues to guide everything we do at Thong Thai Bistro.
One of the reasons our food connects with so many guests is simple: there’s a flavour for every palate. Thai cuisine isn’t just about heat — it’s about balance. Sweet, sour, spicy, savoury… you get to choose how your meal “sounds” to you. Think of it like music 🎶 Some days you want smooth jazz — gentle, comforting flavours. Other days it’s pop — bright, lively, a little tangy. And when you’re feeling bold, it’s rock — full-bodied, spicy, and unapologetic. At Thong Thai Bistro, we adjust spice levels and flavours so everyone can enjoy Thai food their own way, whether you’re easing in or going all out 🌶️😄. That flexibility, paired with fresh ingredients and Chef June’s family recipes, is why our dishes remain so popular. Thank you again for dining with us — we look forward to welcoming you back for another “playlist” of flavours soon!
